I sit motionless in a camping chair holding an umbrella, looking down at my bare feet. I find myself internally navigating the delicate balance between passive observation and deliberate intervention. As I sit there quietly, I am nevertheless both a part of and apart from my surroundings. The umbrella serves as my shield from the rain and people but also as a conduit for the myriad thoughts and emotions that occupy the space between each of my contemplative breaths.
